Day 1: UK – Night on board

Travel from Heathrow to Nairobi on an overnight flight.

Day 2: Nairobi

Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to your hotel. Spend the day at leisure, opting to explore the city’s attractions including Nairobi National Park. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 3: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

Travel to the Masai Mara National Reserve, where some of Africa's most iconic creatures including lions, rhinos, cheetahs and wildebeest stalk the acacia-peppered savannahs. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 4: Masai Mara National Reserve

All-day game drive in Masai Mara, spotting elephants, black rhinos, buffalo, leopards, cheetahs and crocodiles. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 5: Masai Mara National Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park

Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park, where an afternoon game drive will offer a glimpse of large flocks of flamingos during the right season, along with black and white rhinos, leopards and lions. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 6: Lake Nakuru National Park – Jinja

Cross into Uganda and head to Jinja, famous for being the ‘Source of the Nile’. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 7: Jinja – Masindi

Travel to Murchison Falls National Park, one of Africa’s most famous national parks, stopping en route in Kampala. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 8: Masindi

Enjoy a chimp trekking excursion today in Budongo Forest, home to the largest number of chimpanzees in Uganda – a population of 600-700 apes. Opt to take a boat cruise in the national park to look at the mesmerising Murchison Falls.(Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 9: Masindi – Lake Mburo National Park

Make your way to the Leopard Rest Camp, nestled on the border of Lake Mburo National Park. There’s plenty of wildlife here, including hippo, spotted hyena, colobus monkeys and buffalo; see if you can spot any of them from your tented accommodation, or opt for a game drive. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park – Lake Bunyonyi

Travel south to the beautiful scenery of Lake Bunyonyi, checking into your lakeside resort for a briefing of the day’s following activities. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi

Trek into Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (or Rwanda or Democratic Republic of the Congo, depending on permits), in the hopes of spotting the critically endangered mountain gorilla – of which there’s an estimated 650 remaining worldwide. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 12: Lake Bunyonyi

Take part in optional activities, such as visiting a local Pygmy village, or go hiking or mountain biking. Please note while there are two days allocated to gorilla trekking, you will only have one gorilla trek per tour. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 13: Lake Bunyonyi - Kampala

Begin your return journey towards Kenya, stopping at Kampala for an overnight stay. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 14: Kampala - Jinja

Transfer to Jinja, where you can try white rafting, kayaking or cruises on the Nile. Alternatively, stick to dry land with horse riding or a quadbike adventure. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 15: Jinja - Eldoret

Transfer to Kenya, calling at Eldoret en route, the country’s fifth-largest city dominated by the Great Rift Valley. (Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Day 16: Eldoret - Nairobi

Return to Nairobi, where the tour ends. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 17: Nairobi - UK

Transfer to Nairobi Airport for your flight home. (Meals: breakfast)

In short, you pay Secret Escapes a non-refundable deposit to secure your holiday, then you pay the holiday supplier the remaining balance of the holiday - as advertised - at a later date (before you travel).

We've added deposit-only sales to enable our members to get early-bird access to more amazing holidays, and because we know that planning and paying for a holiday can take time.
